Jim Malcolm is a C-Suite executive passionate about changing and fostering consumer behavior through product adoption within the CE industry. He consistently develops deep relationships that stimulate genuine brand engagement. Jim is an expert in business transformation; defined through formulating vision and executing that vision throughout the company and is known for moving consumers from shooting film to digital cameras, CDs to music downloads and printed books to e-reader technologies.
Jim’s accomplished career pivots on the making, marketing, and promotion of consumer technologies. Currently CEO of Xiality he is resolving technology hurdles that are slowing the adoption of VR applications. Before starting Xiality Jim was president of Ricoh Imaging Americas; responsible for Ricoh and Pentax branded cameras. He founded Aperture 360 Interactive and spent over a decade at Sony Electronics, where he held product marketing, corporate marketing, and general management positions. Jim joined Sony in 1997 from Scitex, Leaf Products Division—a pioneering company in digital imaging—where he developed new and leading-edge practical business applications for digital imaging technologies.
Jim serves on the board of The Imaging Alliance and sits on the board of directors for the Consumer Technology Association. He received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Colorado at Denver, has completed coursework in biomedical communication from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and a holds a certificate in executive management training from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Married with three children, Jim resides in Boulder, Colorado.
