Brooklyn film studio acquires Brooklyn Fire Proof’s landmark soundstages, which hosted shows like Orange is the New Black, Beat Bobby Flay and Forged in Fire
NEW YORK (PRWEB) July 30, 2019
Be Electric Studios, a full-service film and photography studio in Brooklyn’s fast-growing production hub, today announced the expansion of its 35,000 square feet facility. The studio acquired additional soundstages through Brooklyn Fire Proof Inc. (BFP), which doubled the space they can offer clients. The development also enabled Be Electric to gain certification as a Qualified Production Facility; meaning eligible productions that shoot with Be Electric can now qualify for New York’s Film Production Tax Credit.
The film studio, located in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn, is a one-stop shop for shooting space, equipment, crew and related production services. For several years, Be Electric has housed productions for award-winning filmmakers and brands including Netflix, Nickelodeon, MTV, AMC, ABC, Hulu, Nike, Spotify, Red Bull and Google. With the acquisition of the former BFP soundstages, the facility now offers nine film studios.
“We’re excited to expand our presence in Bushwick’s booming film hub, especially with a major media-streaming company moving in around the corner,” says Andrew Stern, founder and creative director of Be Electric Studios. “It’s also an honor for us to acquire and preserve the 13-year old film stages that hosted amazing shows like Orange is the New Black, Beat Bobby Flay and Forged in Fire.”
In addition to attracting larger productions, Be Electric can now help clients qualify for the state’s Film Production Tax Credit. Under this program, production companies may be eligible for a 30 percent refund credit on qualified production and post-production costs. With in-house equipment rental and services, Be Electric is a cost-effective option for a variety of film, television and photography projects.
“While there are many full service studios, most clients choose Be Electric because of our dedication to assisting the productions that shoot with us achieve the highest level of success with their projects.” says Andrew Stern.
